Been down the lottie today and the there were paw prints in the snow. We couldn't decide if they were foxes or puddy cats.

Anyone know how to tell the difference ?

.....fillow the prints to wherever they stop an if it's at a pile of s**t that smells like cat stuff....then it's cats 8)

With fox prints, I reckon you can see a slight scuffle as well where the tail drags. Don't know if that is scientific, but it's true from my observation.

I'd stick with the cat nuts theory.    ;D ;D ;D

I thank you Watson ;D

fox poo still has all the furry stuff in it (as the "tail" of the poo) from when it ate an animal... cats poo doesn't!!!  (if you can find the poo!)  sorry if this is TMI

this has a piccie of a print http://www.bbc.co.uk/nature/animals/wildbritain/field_guides/animal_tracks.shtml

I may do a bit of nuts spotting tomorrow on my daily early morning ramble on the way to church.    ;D ;D ;D

Well, thanks to Mat, not only will my first 'gardening' job of 2010 be to go clear up....errr....stuff from someone's borders, I'll be able to identify it now 8)  Actually, I really thank you for that info, Mat, cos this lady has a pathological hatred of cats, would like them all dead, and I'd really, really, really like to give(?) her proof positive that a fox is to blame, tho even I think the likelihood is that  it's the cat up the road :-\...

So, as soon as this latest fall of snow has cleared, I'll be along there with my face mask, my disposable gloves, my shovel - and an Inspection Stick 8) ;D

But I'll also be taking along a goodly stack of other sticks to stake the areas so that any animal won't have the turning circle required to squat and perform. Simple solution for an annoying problem.

I wonder why she hates cats so much?

The electronic cat scarers can work, but my sister has something like this http://www.deteracat.co.uk/scarecrow_water_jet_pack.htm and she says its brilliant; though they have to rememeber to turn it off before they go up the garden otherwise they get shot with water!  My sisters was designed to deter all animals...

Simple, Mat...her love affair in life is with her vacuum cleaner & feather duster (ooer missus ::))....4 children, now grown-up, no pets allowed - ever.

Sez it all, really.
