I have lost the name of a plant I bought which develops into a large bush with white furry stems and small grey/blue leaves. A faint memory says it is a sage of some sort. It was the leaves and stem that attracted me, and I did not expect the size and spread (about4 feet, but I think it would get larger if I did not cut it back). It has occasional pale blue sage-type flowers at the tips of the long stems.

It is very useful at the moment because the white stems and grey leaves bulk out and brighten any winter bunch of berries and leaves I manage to produce, and it is surviving this weather. I want to recommend it to someone with a cutting garden.

Could it be Perovskia?  This looks like a sage but stands the winter better, my neighbour has a bush that never seems to change.

Commonly known as "Russian" sage...  :-\

Thanks for this help. I think it must be a Perovskia of some sort, but all the ones I have found images of have deeply divided leaves, and mine are simple but slightly toothed. And all the images have a lot more flowers than mine, which is basically a grey white bush with sparse flowers at the tips of the long, slim shoots. But giving me a genus name means I can look it up more easily, so thanks.

Does sound like Russian Sage.  I like putting it into a green wreath at Christmas- nice contrast.
