Hello everyone

Just a quick question have had my raspberries delivered today(24-12-09) is it to late to plant them?

With all this snow and frost you may have a bit of trouble.  I take it they are bare rooted? If so plant them in containers if need be; then transplant in February or when the weather improves.

I hope not as I'm putting some new canes in and they haven't been delivered yet!

it wont hurt to wait till the weather is a bit better,if they are bare rooted protect them from the frost until you can get them in.

I did in the pouring rain a few years ago - and got ill.  Be careful not to get too wet or too cold.
However I think this is the best time as they will be dormant.  However if they are frost protected you can probably wait a bit until the weather improves.

My canes have not been delivered yet!

Apparently Oct/Nov was so mild the plant would not go 'dormant' so they could not be delivered.

My bed has been prepared for a few months now and my plan is to heavily mulch the bed after planting (when I get them) this should give them conditions suited to 'bare root planting'
