She will try and keep it for ever, but they don't last past 12th night if I can help it. Open window for 5 minutes usually does the trick

you mean you get to escape out the window but she shuts it after you  ;D  ;D

I bought one of them yesterday.  The bracts were such a lovely dark red.

I managed to keep a plant for years, to the extent that the bracts were bonsified (dwarfed) ;D

Then I was stoopid enough to take the advice of a gardening 'exspurt', and cut the plant back.  It died.
