Allotments 4 All

I got today a delivery of 125 bean canes for the sum of £35 including P&P.
That works out at 28p a cane.

They sent it out yesterday and the delivery from Glenrothes to Northants was very quick.

I got these via EBay and have been very surprised by the high quality of the canes.

They will make a valuable addition to the garden from plant supports to making cloches and trellis work.

Supplier was Scots Plants Direct. Hedgehogs Nursery. This is through the seller ladybird_mad

Not sure about the basket weaving though as that needs more practice. ;D

Brilliant price landimad I've been looking for 8footers and our "hut " is charging 44p each Scots have got them much cheaper,if I get together with some lottie mates we should be able to get a bulk order.Were they nice and chunky ?

Not as chunky as I would like, but they are ok for the purpose of what I want.

A good deal for the price though. I would look to clubbing together with others to get them though.

Hi Landimad we want the canes for runner beans, we're talking to the guys who run our site hut because they're paying much more for canes and a delivery charge which Scots don't if you spend enough.So if the quality is alright it's a real find. Thanks for the information Landimad :)

Thanks Landimad I ordered 250 8ft canes today.I spoke to the guy in our hut but think dinasaur,snail block of wood.they are all sceptical about the internet so we asked a few mates and we'll share them between us.Let you know how we find them :)

Sorry to put a damper on, but a UK sustainable source through coppicing, last longer and less of a carbon footprint.

Well our 250 8ft canes were despatched yesterday and delivered today at 11am.Brilliant service we paid £58.99 and no p.&p.because it was over £40.
I think we should start a thread for companies who give good service ,after reading I think it was Debp andCapital Gardens and a problem with shallot quantities,knowing about other forum members experiences would be helpful.

There are plenty of suppliers for hazel & chestnut rods they do cost significantly more than bamboo though.

N A Kays Horticultural Products Limited was placed into administration on 22 September 2009. It seems the chances of receiving the goods or recovering your money if you had placed an order with them at the time is negligible.

They looked expensive Baccy Man!

My chestnut canes were about 60p each (albeit discounted because he didn't have any hazel), but we did collect them in the car on the way home from work.
