I got soil under my fingernails for the first time this year yesterday!

I spent a lovely hour in the garden in the morning and got so much done.

First I sowed four different varieties of Chili peppers, half my onion seeds and some overwintering lettuce. All are now sitting in my new heated propagator (had to turn it off last night - it got up to 30C, even with the vents open!)

Then I turned one compost bin into the other. It's all so well rotted that bins that were filled with fresh stuff in the autumn have sunk down to being half full. Oh how I'd missed digging!

So I was then able to start filling the empty bin. I spent 10 mins weeding and managed to fill my bucket in that time. Weeding for me involves a lot of conversation with the plants, mostly - what are you doing growing so early?

It was lovely to have to give my nails a good scrub when i went inside, even though I wore gloves to keep my hands warm!

I didn't want to stop, but unfortunately I had to go riding! :D (It must be gardening season if I'd rather stay home than ride!)
gone to pot :D

Riding - horses? well, don't forget to collect the erm droppings for the compost heap!

It was good to get to the plot last Friday and on Monday, though I couldn't stay long (otherwise I would have been late to pick the beetroot sower up from playgroup). Last autumn, the plot was a bit neglected so it is weeds (well, grasses) galore. Made a start, which is the main thing  ;D

Couldn't agree more, it is GREAT to be getting back into ahrness again!!  Having to scrub nails is a small price to pay  ;)
