i have just acquired a smallish coldframe from my neighbour.  I've taken it down the plot and sited it on one of the raised beds where I have a space i.e directly on the soil.  last week I sowed some rocket, lettuce and they are coming on well and I'd hopeful of a crop before the really cold weather comes!  I lived in Enfield so its usually warmish here.  At the weekend i speculatively planted a few dwarf French beans as an experiment to see how they go.

Now, my real question is to all of you with some expereince using coldframes - is there much I can sow in the winter that will work?  Is it worth tryong to insulate a coldframe?

Shouldn't need insulating... light is most important... if you are actively gowing winter crops... keeping the wind off is probably the best advantage for "Winter" crops...  :)
