Can globe artichokes be grown in pots with a manure rich soil?

I've never tried it, but my guess is it would have to be a rather large pot.

I've got them in two places: one is at the ends of ordinary beds, in a fairly sheltered spot; the other in a large raised bed (12 feet by 12) as a centrepiece on a windy site. The former don't do very well at all, but those in the raised bed are fantastic. They seem to need a lot of space all to themselves, so if you can find a big enough pot they just might do well.

But bear in mind that not only can they grow 6 feet tall (or more), but spread outwards as they grow till they eventually need splitting. And the roots can go down a couple of feet as well. And things in pots can blow over!

You'd need a gynormous pot, so the answer's probably 'no'. They're massive plants with massive root systems.

The size of pot you would need would make it a labour of love rather than a sensible option

So `no` would be the best advice
