I need to move my gooseberries this year and thought that I would take some cuttings. Do I divide or take cuttings?

Cuttings. They are very easy to grow and will grow from both hardwood and softwood cuttings.

Prune the bush and stick as many as you like into the soil, I do not do anything else and they all seem to grow ready for planting out in the Spring.

Are they those lovely Golden thingy????? I think thats the name , but the big yellow sweet goosgogs:-))))).
I wish I could get a couple of cuttings off you, Goose berry's don't seem to grow here. the odd time you may see a couple of small containers about 1/2 pint of those little hard green sour as old harry ones. yuck.
Strange we grow such wonderful fruits and veg I wonder why gooseberry's don't do well. ????? qahtan

Flighty

Qahtan there is a popular variety Golden Drop.

They may not do well over there due to American gooseberry mildew.
Flighty's plot,  http://flightplot.wordpress.com,  is my blog.

Yes you could be right about the mildew, as my brother still try's to grow them and every year he say's "I have a good crop of gooseberry's" but they all and I mean all have mildew on them and a maggot thingy inside. yuck.
I was told that the mildew was due to cold nights, over the weekend night temperature dropped to 8 c in southern Ontario, a couple weeks ago with the humidity is was like 43c..
Funny place this Canada for weather, every thing else is fine but weather well,,,,,,,,,, ;-)))) qahtan

Going to go with the bucket of water, dug up the bushes this morning. Bucket of water was the short term answer, now its the long term on!

Ours takes a lot of beating......

Hot hot in the summer, and cold cold in the winter, beautiful  to look at.
Last winter the newscaster on the TV threw a mug of boiling water into the air and it vaporized straight away. exposed flesh will freeze in 3 minutes, not all the time but it can happen.   But I am still glad I am here. ;-))) qahtan
