Hi I have planted 3 pumkin plants on the allot. there are a couple starting to get quite big, are you supposed to lay straw under or any special care as not to let the fruit rot on damp earth?
please any info
thanks

Try putting straw, a flat stone, or a piece of board under the pumpkins if you're worried. I just let them lie, and they don't come to any harm.

I put tiles under mine. We got some from the tip last time we went. Someone must have been having their bathroom re tiled.
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

seems it dont matter if pumkins are left on the ground, but I might try some straw under sinse its first time growing them.
thanks for the info

I save  polystyrene packing and put that underneath it's soft and doesn't soak up moisture ,some of the bigger bits can be snapped half.
