We should be moving in 3/4wks.

Can anyone tell me if it will be ok to dig up our very large amount of "Agapanthas" see picture in Gallery.

Yes, they are almost indestructible...  :)

Robert_Brenchley

Waterlogging can destruct them, as I know from experience. But I imagine they would survive this.

saddad

True but they can stand a lot of root loss... when disturbed. We have to split ours with a spade...  :-X

They should be o.k as we bought some agapanthas roots in madeira, all they were was a piece of stem with 1/2 small roots. They were planted into one pot, kept damp and all have sent out new roots and leaves. They were planted in may.

I thought of this thread when I was in Bexhill today. Went past a florists and saw a beautiful white agapanthus in a big pot. Guess how much?

£65
:o  :o  :o  :o  :o  :o  :o  :o

But if you bought 2 they did you a deal for £100  :-X

Dig it up - its got to be worth a try!

Only if you stipulated in the contract that you would be taking them with you when you moved.  Plants in the garden are the equivalent of 'fixtures and fittings' in the house.

I have known of a case where the vendor had to return plants.

Sorry to be a bringer of bad news.

1066, if you want any white agapanthus I have a large bed of large and pygmy varieties. ;D

Good point Valmarg, I remember having to state what we were taking from the garden when we moved.

And thanks for the offer but I have a few good plants already  :D

rosebud

VALMARG, yes of course we have said we are taking them with lots of other plants bought as gifts, including the beautifull grass that Lishka bought us when we moved here.

No need to shout at me rosebud. :-[

My only plea in mitigation is that you did not make that clear in your original posting.

Opppps, no intention of shouting Valmarg, i did that by accident  why would i want to shout at you for being helpfull  :) ;) :D ;D.

The only thing I can say is that I don't know.  Looking at the plants we have, with about 50 flower heads, it would leave one hell of a hole to dig them all up.  Then there are the pygmy variety.

I'm sure you will give them loads of tlc, so they are bound to survive, but it is difficult.
