Allotments 4 All

This year I was really keen to grow this plant but found out after sowing that they
can be difficult and sometimes need a cold spell (no mentioned on the packet).

There is just one green growth and if you have this plant you might know if it is
this plant. It is like a very small tuft of grass Unlike any germinated seed I have seen before but definitely not a weed.  What do you think?

Not tried them myself... OH has several astrantias, but all bought in...  :-\

Never tried them, but if it's likely to need stratifying leave the pot in a cool place till the spring, don't let it dry out totally meantime, and see if it does anything. You could transplant the one plant and grow that on separately.

Thank you both. On another forum I was told to keep the tray of seeds and put outside covered in the winter and see what happens next year.  I didn't really expect anyone to know about the little tufty thing.

i had a look on the seed site and there is this picture (its the 4th one along at the top) and it doesnt look too grassy. hope its a help.

I keep them in a cold frame until they decide to do something, or it becomes obvious that they're not going to. Some seeds take two years or more before they decide to germinate.

Mine self seeds but unfotunately I don't know what conditions it does it in.
