Can anyone advise me how best to deal with asparagus beetle now that derris is banned? I saw some on my plants this morning and squished them. Is there an organically approved spray?

I couldn't find any last year that was effective.  The only ones recommended seem to have been banned now. So regular checking, sharp eyes and squishing seems to do the trick.

Yes, squishing here too.  Don't mind picking off the beetles but the grubs are disgusting.

Yes i'm a squisher too! A couple of years ago i spent a pleasant half hour squishing and chatting with a fellow plotholder and his wife ,so i can recommend it as a job to do with a friend.Chimps and mutual grooming springs to mind ;D Sorry too much sun 8) 8) 8)

Thanks.  I'll look forward to many happy hours of asparagus-watching followed by squishing!  ;)

Boil up some rhubarb leaves and mix in a bit of soft soap or detergent.

BAK

put newspaper on the ground between plants / rows. Shake plants fairly vigorously for several minutes and then dispose of the beetles that have fallen onto the paper, especially the couples who are up to no good.
