Can anyone tell me what to do with strawb runners?  I know I can get new plants from them but how do I do it?!   ???

Kepouros

If you look at the runners you will see at intervals little nodes with leaf buds forming.  Just fasten the runner down with a bit of notched stick, a small stone, or anything else handy so that the node is in firm contact with the soil and it will root and a new plant will develop from  it.  Once the new plant is well rooted and growing strongly detach it and plant it out for next year.  Left to their own devices the runners would produce dozens of plantlets, but it is better not to take more than one or two plantlets off each runner and then `stop` the runner by pinching it out.

when the new shoot has formed all i do is put it in 3" pot of soil, leave it to root and hen cut runner off.

brilliant - thanks guys. I didn't realise it was so straight forward!   :D

Just eat all the strawberries then dig up any plants you need for replanting. bin the rest. They are perfectly designed to root all by themselves.
