I have sowed kale (black russian) in jiffy 7's and they have germinated after about 4 days and are looking good.  I am thinking of potting them on now but have a query - do I need to thin them (some modues have 4 'plants' in) and what is the best thing to pot them on into i.e how big ought they to be before I plant them out so they are not going to become slug fodder?

All advice/photos most welcome

I put them into seperate three inch pots... and grow them on till they have a tough stem before planting out...  :)

Thanks Saddad - how long until they have that tough stem?

where there are 3/4 plants in a jiffy 7should I prick all out but one or try to seperate them or just let them battle it out?

This is how I deal with mine;

Note; I don't use jiffy's as you can see, but the principle is the same.

and this is how I plant them out!;

Oh God, just re-read the posts and I have the answer - sorry!  Kids up very very early and Daddy is very tired and confused!  Back to work!  Thanks!

I would split them up... and pot up seperately...  :)
