I'd say the poorly ones are damping off or have a foot rot... pull one, the roots will be brown and shrivelled instead of long and white...  :-\

My popcorn (Blue Hopi) and sweetcorn (Earlibird) went into a heated propagator on Monday evening in 3" pots, a total of about 50 in th eend.... the Hopi has started showing already (as of last night)...

One of the gherkins that went in the same time (also sowed squash, outdoor cukes and several beans but the beans have no heat) is also showing, but it didn't have heat until Tuesday when I got another cheapo heated propagator from B+Q (12.99 for a one-tray 8W fixed output unit).....

Tee Gee,
What exactly did you plant your seed in and what temperature did you keep them at for them to germinate within the week and did you have the seed soaking in water before putting in to you trays, ::)

QuoteWhat exactly did you plant your seed in

As I recall multipurpose compost in this case.

Quoteand what temperature did you keep them at for them to germinate within the week

Bottom heat (hotbed) set to maintain a soil temperature of around 65°F (18°C)

Quoteand did you have the seed soaking in water before putting in to you trays

Yes! for just a few hours!
