A genuine question that occurred to me whilst reading the TGG thread on Tom growing.

I'm growing it for the first time this year - haven't had a decent tom harvest since 2006 - this one is supposed to ripen in lower temps.

Given it's name, I predict a hot, dry summer ;D ;D ;D

I tried it last year; it gave me the only three toms I got before the blight set in. I don't have any seed left, but it's one I'll come back to.

We are, although I suspect that "Temperate, average" might be a more accurate name!

I have grown some for the last few years but found Gartenpearle more reliable/prolific...  :-\

artichoke

I am growing it for the first time this year and have about 8 tiny seedlings in a gutter with true leaves just starting. Like others, I am hoping it will ripen in a poor summer.....

I'm growing it too in the wilds of Northern Scotland (not quite Alaska). Also giving Red Alert a go as well which has similar properties (I think they might be related or something?). But I've also invested in mini tomato greenhouses to try and grow other varieties. And as a wee experiment I got one of those upside down planters which I'll put a Red Alert seedling into.

Tried them last year and lost the lot to blight  >:( >:( >:( >:(

This year I'm trying gartenperle  :-\ :-\ :-\

Tin Shed

I'm trying it this year on the recommendation from another plot holder - he had them still ripening in October in his greenhouse.
Will report back at the end of the season....if I remember ;D
