My toms are so lanky, they'll be heading for the compost heap. I love this house, but it has no south facing windows and I have no green house, nightmare, really.

Wouldn't it help if you started them off later? Less likely to be lanky, they can go outdoors faster (even if you bring them in at night) and get more light. I've always grown my own and I've had flats and houses with no window sills, shaded sills, the lot.

I sowed gardeners delight two weeks ago and that was super early for me. I've got some carbon and I'm not sowing them till March.

If you've run out of seed and would like to try again, I can send you some. PM me if you'd like them.

Never give up!

Oh I totally agree, it's just a new house and my old ways don't suit,  have always had a bright sunny windowsill and started my toms, aubergines, peppers and physallis in February, before moving them to coldframes in late march. It's just probably down to over eagerness to get going. Thank you for the kind offer but I've plenty of seed left and am going to rein in my itchy fingers for a few weeks or so.
