I don;t know what the LIDL one is like, but I wouldn't ever use a normal corded one again.  I have had cordless for about 14 years.  The first one my ex took with him when he "left" in 1999, the next fell on the floor and broke! and I now have a new one.

Advantages:
No cord getting in the way all the time.  total flexibility in ironing due to this.
base can be nearer to power socket than ironing board is (sometimes an advantage)

Disadvantages
To make best use of them, one needs to get into a rhythm of replacing iron into base each time you put it down to move the item being ironed.  This way it heats back up in short bursts and I find I am not waiting around for it to heat very often.  If you do not do this, you will have waiting time for it to heat up

Is this the type you heat up on top of the stove?

;)

Not quite.  It heats up when it is on its stand.
