We have just been asked to look after the 4 chickens at seans school join the school holidays was just wondering if the bedding would be any good to put into the compost bin/ straight into the allotment as an enrichment.  Thanks in advance

Into the comost bin for a few months or until it has rotted down.It might too hot to dig in on delivery i.e. when fresh!

My hens get cleaned out once per month. All the bedding I throw outside in the run on the floor for another two weeks or so, then chuck it all in the compost bin after they have crapped and trodden it down a bit more. (This way it rots faster in the bin)

With only four to look after I would pick up the poo every morning, they do most of their poo during the night, and put it straight into the compost bin. It would be better if they didn't have to walk on poo as their feet will get caked up with it and it dries rock solid. Any bedding that seems damp should also go in the compost bin as a build up of ammonia can be smelly. Clean and dry underfoot is ideal.
