I planted my redcurrent bush spring 2007 had a very small harvest 2008 how exactly do I now prune it? can anyone help me?

calendula

does it need pruning is the first question, maybe it just needs tidying up and cutting a few branches back to a fruiting bud and cutting out any dead wood and shaping - this is all they ever need anyway - fruit can take awhile to get going so be a little bit more patient  :)

Or possibly the flowers were caught by a late frost... mine were OK but the plums/damsons/gages all did badly this year, after the frosts.  :-\

I hardly ever prune my redcurrants and get too many each year!  :)

Red currants do not need pruning

You just cut off what is inconvenient.

Like bits which are in the wrong place.

Eventually you may want to control height or width but it does not require expert attention you just take off what you don't want.
