Sweet pea seeds

Grandma

Does anyone want several hundred - (maybe thousands - I'm not going to count!) - sweet pea seeds? I grew two lots this year, Unwins seeds, one collection of six named varieties - (chosen especially for  their perfume) - and one called 'flower arrangers blend' - pretty colours on long, strong stems. The seeds I'm offering are a mix of those two saved from my own plants.

I've never joined in a seed-swap or a pass the parcel - (don't grow anything unusual enough!) - but would be very happy to send this lot to someone who could share them around.

They're very hardy, best autumn-sown - (mine are 4-6" tall already!) - or can be spring sown.

If no one wants them, they're off to Freecycle.

Thank you, Val xxx

Hi Val,
I would like a few seed please, I must be around the corner from you, if you pm me your address I will pop round on my zimmer and pick them up.  ;)

Grandma

Petengade - where are you? If you're local would love to see you/give you some seeds before they all go elsewhere!

Betula - would you take the lot - (after I've given some to Petengade) ?

Thank you, Val xxx

Grandma

Petengade - just found out you're in Worthing! Will pm you with my address! x

Thank you Val for the sweet pea seed, it was nice to put a face to a name, the Stuffer tomato's turned out well, the seed came all the way from Biscombe.

Grandma

Thank you all for your interest.

To keep down p&p costs, I had hoped to get all the seeds off to one kind soul who could keep or share them as he/she wished but I've had lots of PMs so I'm afraid I've got to say NO MORE, PLEASE!!!!

Everyone who has given me their address up to now will get some. I hope to post on Saturday. Sorry if anyone's disappointed.

Best wishes to all,

Val

Grandma

Hi Val, thank you so much i recieved my seeds this morning LOVELY.

Rosebud  ;D

Borlotti

Your sweet peas look lovely.  They are one of my favourite flowers.  I have saved some seeds from mine so am OK for seeds but might splash out and buy some you recommend.  When do you start planting them, heard last night I think that plant them now.  Don't usually plant mine indoors until Spring.  Last year I lost some of colours from the seeds I planted from last year, is that normal or was I just unfortunate.

Grandma

Glad to know the seeds arrived safely. Thanks for all the pms and posts.  :)

Borlotti - Thank you! They're one of my favourites too. Can I refer you to an earlier post - FAO LITTLEBABYBIRD in The Shed, on page 2 now, last posted to yesterday. In there I've answered an identical query on how I grow my sweet peas. I hope it's helpful for you.

Re losing some of your colours - I really don't know why this happens. All I can suggest is that perhaps some colours produce more seed pods than others so maybe, when we collect our seeds, we get an unbalanced selection? Only a guess! Someone may have a better suggestion.  ???

Thank you again val,I have sent pm to Borlotti to ask if she would like some
of the seeds you sent me. :)

Grandma

That's lovely of you, thanks very much!  :) I'd hoped that, if folks found they had more seeds than they could use themselves, they'd share them around  somehow.

It's awful having to disappoint people! :'(

Borlotti

Thanks grandma, didn't realise I could plant them now.  This gardening lark, something new to learn every day.

rosebud

Would a couple of peeps like to share  a few of my sweet peas Grandma sent me.   Rosebud.

Grandma, Mary (Rosebud) kindly offered to send me some of your sweet pea seeds,
I have sown some of my own saved seeds but looking forward to sowing some of yours. Many thanks to you both. Looks like Grandma's seeds will be sown far and wide :)
