I'm very chuffed with these German Filderkraut cabbages with their lovely strong taste. Apparently the original Sauerkraut cabbage.

They seemed to be eaten away by slugs till I removed the dozens of outer leavers and found them perfect inside. Maybe the shape helps, stopping the beasties getting in to the middle.

The shape is better for storage too. This one has about 18 inches of eating.

I have a similar shaped red called Kalibos...  ;D

Yes, Kalibos are similar but slightly less exaggerated in the pointyness department.

I have some Filderkraut seeds to grow next year...  ;D

Impressive, I'm so glad you are preserving the old varieties sawfish, before the EU tells us what we can and cannot plant ::)

The EU has already told us, accursed common list, but it is legal to pass the seed around, just not to sell it.

The fact they taste great doesn't seem to matter.

Yes we're slowly and insidiously being turned into a single boring mind through lack of choice etc etc to make us all more controllable.
