Need a Leek

Even though I was wiped out this past season regarding the manure problems I have been kind of keeping on top of weed growth etc on our two plots and I have had some produce from non infected areas (Phew but not much)...Well now is the time when all this up heave can be corrected and I have learnt that this so called poisoned manure can be dug in the ground and the toxins will be neutralised and I have been lucky enough to receive free of charge a Wolsey Merry Tiller Titan rotorvator ( early 70s ). The thing is she will not fire up....I have replaced the spark plug and still no joy so before I take her in to the money making experts I thought I miht ask the real experts for some advice  ;D.

Cheers

Not sure as it could be a couple of things.  Did the spark plug smell heavily of petrol when you took it out?

If not then it could be a problem with the petrol filter or the petrol feed pipe. Could be a carb problem in that the carb is fouled with rust or rubbish.

If yes then it could be the spark magneto or HT coil, depends on what is used.

You could go to this site  http://www.merrytiller.co.uk/spares3.htm
and get the maintenance instructions and spare parts list.  Only costs a fiver.

First thing to check is the spark. Take the plug out, reconnect the lead and carefully hold the metal part of the plug against the cylinder head. Get someone else to pull the starter and watch for a spark at the electrode. Better still, get someone else to hold the plug while you pull the starter.

Once you are sure there is a spark that only leaves the carb or timing to worry about.
