Are the plants being pollinated?

The only suggestion I can make is vine weevil grubs.  If you pull the plant, and it comes out of the ground with no root on it, then the odds on chances are that is the cause.  If this is not the case, I don't know.

I think they are being pollinated as they grow in to strawberries and then dies, they do not go red before this, but I will check for Vine weevil

teresa

Where are you growing them, pots or ground?
pots need watering and feeding and ground may need extra feeding and mulching to stop them drying out?
vine weevil mostly lives in man made compost IMHO so treating compost is a must.

Kingfisher

thank you, I think you may have hit the nail on the head as I have not fed them. they are in pots what food should I use

tomato feed to dulite is a quick fix feed once a week as per instructions for toms.
If you pot them on in the spring you can add some slow release feed to potting mixture or the pellets.
If you want to go organic comphrey or nettles chopped up and let to rot in water. then dilute think its 10 water to 1 home made feed.
see how you go this year and if they feel dry water each day pots do dry out very quick stick your finger in best way to find out ha ha.
