Last year I had 3 rows of bumper carrots. Decided to put a lorry load of mushroom compost into the veg plot and only one or two carrots appeared have put in over 1000 seeds! Very dissapointed so far. Lots of other plants growing well. Is it me or the season or the compost. Ideas welcome. Thanks in advance

Could be a duff pack of seeds 3/1000 try writing to the seed supplier explaining as you have here.

Ask them to explain to you what you have done wrong to only get such a dismal result from their seed.

Unless the seeds cost less than a stamp costs.

Thanks for the tip. I had not thought about writing to the seed supplier.

I think that poor germination this year in my carrots was caused by cold weather and indifferent watering by what little rain we had.

It is not too late to try again, you will not get monsters but they will grow rapidly as the soil is warmer.
