shallots going to seed

some of my shallots & onoins have started to produce seed is this normal & and if not what can I do about it.

Off with their heads!

...and eat those ones first as they store badly... doesn't really matter as you were going to have to eat some first anyway!

Just lifted mine because that had started to happen, a lot were rotten, they had got too wet over the recent monsoon season, the bed they were in got waterlogged. The survivors will be nice roasted in a mix of butter and olive oil.

Never mind, the bed has been raised and there is room for stuff I didn't know where to put.
