hi dialeg,
I would suggest not to plant out any sweetcorn until early june, Late may if warm enough. Keep them in your greenhouse until they about 6" high. Depending on what variety, you should get a crop mid to late august, Keep them well watered and feed weekly with a slightly weaker tomato feed than you would tomatoes. The cobs are ready to harvest when the tassles growing out of the top of each cob, turn brown. Pull back the layers and do the thumb nail test, but more on that nearer the time.

If they get checked in the pots it will delay their growth... 3-4" is about right for going out. Ours has just germinated in the last couple of days

I have had really poor germination on the first sowing of sweetcorn. We only have 4 plants! Would I be okay to plant these in a square and give them a good shake for pollination, or is this just a stupid idea? Obviously I will isolate them them away from other sweetcorn varieties as we have 2 plots.

It would be better than nothing... can you not get another packet of the same variety?  :-\
