First thing i would do is check the driver hasnt dropped out ...

Put your computer disk in and reinstall the sound driver,

Modern computers do not always have seperate driver disks.   If you are new to the world of computers you may not know which driver to install anyway as sound is often just an integrated chip on the main motherboard.

It may be helpful to answer the questions below before proceeding.

What type of computer do you have.....desktop or laptop?

What opperating system is running XP or Vista or Other?

You say you have been away....has anyone had access to your machine while you were absent?

dtw

Are the speakers on and plugged in the right hole?
