I'd like some near the front door but it only gets about half day sun. How do you think sweet peas would do there?
This is my first Spring with live plants in the veg. garden and I'm very excited to see them bloom.

They should do OK, although they may be a bit slower than you'd like to get started. Once established they'll be fine.

They seem to do better if grown with lots of sunshine but there is no reason why you should not get a decent enough display from them. If we get a very sunny summer then they could even do better with a little shade but it seems like a big If at the moment.

Please remember that sweet peas need to be picked. As soon as mine flower I pick them to let the new buds form into flowers. Once you let them become seed pods they give up bothering with new flowers. So if some start to pod snip these off for composting.

They provide a wonderful air freshener in the house as well as a pretty sight from outside.

I have even seen them growing from deep troughs so they can be grown without a proper garden so long as they have plenty of water (feed added) and something to climb up.

So do you all  fertilize yours also? Our soil is still not very good.

For best results and most flowers, yes. They are hungry plants.

Bog standard cheap liquid tomato feed, use about a teaspoonful to a watering can of water, water daily, this should be enough. If the flower stems start to shorten in length then add a drop more feed.

Most climbers like their feet in the shade... their natural habitat...

thank you for all of the advice which gives me hope.
they're transplanted now (second time) into part shade with sml teepee poles. Oops forgot now that I think about it they'll need rabbit protection there also.  !@#$%^& :( rabbits :(
