Mr Smith

We are off to Stratford on Avon for four days tomorrow, question is does  anyone from that area know of any nurseries that do veg plants in the Stratford area :)

Mr Smith

ACE

I usually stay in Stratford when we are building  gardens at Gardeners World Live. As we always run out of something or another I have scoured the nurseries from Stratford to Birmingham. Trying all the small nurseries we can find. There are a lot out in the sticks but I can't say I have ever seen veggies for sale. Mostly selling overpriced plants to those who know no better.
If you go to Anne Hathaways  cottage, try and have a word with some of the old boys who work on the gardens, they are very helpful and have pointed me in the right direction when I have asked if they knew any good nurseries.

Mr Smith

Thanks for the reply will have a scout round :)

I live in Meriden, not far from stratford. Most nurseries I know of are mainly plants.

Veg I have seen in the garden centres are very over priced.

As you are in the Midlands I would recommend a trip to Ryton At Coventry.

Overpriced is the word. I was at Earlswood (between Birmingham and Stratford) the other day, and I dropped in at a nursery which appeared to be aimed at people who want to buy gardens rather than growing them. I hope there are exceptions.

Again,Ryton it is a good trip out anyway, great seeds too.

You'd be better off heading Worcester way for good value veggie plants...sorry!

I agree with you Robert ,the plants at Earlswood  are over the top, 99p for ONE small tomato plant, I was there  looking for basket plants .
