Allotments 4 All

I bought some seed portatoes today from poundland, they are sprouting nicely, trouble is the ground isn't ready for them yet so I have put them in the salad compartment of the fridge to try and hold them back.
Will this be ok? or should I take them out before I kill them.

Lay them out in seed trays and put them somewhere cool an light, but not in direct sunlight.
