I saw some moisture retaining compost at blooms today.Has anyone tried it.
If so what did you think about it.I want to do a hanging basket of tomatoes but I am often away for a few days so tend to not plant things that need lots of watering.

It may be cheaper to use the moisture retaining granules and mix them with normal compost.

Soak the granules in water first, otherwise the basket overflows with the jelly that forms.

I haven't used them myself, but only seen a friend use them, so can't comment on how long
plants last without watering. It would depend on the weather and size of plant too.

Why not get a friendly neighbour to water them?  :D

There's also capillary feeding via mats or containers.
