can anyone tell me if this is a decent buy?, my soil isnt that heavy.

I cant comment as I have only used heavier duty industrial ones. I would suggest you hire one instead as I doubt you would use it more than once or twice a year. Hire a substancial  machine that will do the job with ease and you will be done much more quickly. Why buy something that is rarely used.
OR hire one like the one you are thinking of buying and I bet you will be glad you never bought one!

it looks a bit light weight to me , the cultivating depth of 120mm (or 4 1/2 inches)doesnt sound very deep.

I think there is some better buys than that to be had

looks nasty!!, i wouldn't have it ;D. i bought a merry tiller from eBay put a new 5hp engine on it & it works a treat (my baby). i do have another one for sale  needs the engine rebuilt as the rings have gone on the piston letting the petrol down into the oil sump and its a cultivator type so it will dig deep if you wanted it to. £90.00 as it is or i will rebuild the engine for you @ £115.00.

I have been following the Merry Tiller on E-bay and with still a day and a half to go it is up to £200,  I have also seen a  heavy duty with a B&S 5hp engine with a twelve month manufacturers warranty for £219 :)

will offer a 6 month guarantee. as i build and restore rotovators i can get my hands on almost owt, as they say up here in the north. ;D

Just watching e-bay again and with one hour to go on the 'Merry Tiller' rotovator some mug bids £220 for a used machine and I don't care if it is a brand new rebuild ::)

It's now £260 :P

One used 'Merry Tiller' gone for £280 on e-bay, right thats it from next week I'm doing rotovators up and putting them on e-bay, :o

You could try and borrow a rotovator from your local freecycle, unless you are planning to use it a lot - or if you're thinking of loaning it to others. We looked on Ebay last month, and the good rotovators (up to the job) all went for a lot more money than we could afford.
Renting a nice strong one from a garden machinery place (don't quote me on sizes or rods per litre) costs about £100 for a whole week (in Wiltshire) and could be shared amongst a couple of lottie holders to make it viable. The cost even includes delivery.
Another really good place to look at to get the use of any garden machinery for very little (in kind) is your local LETScheme.
