Any gooseberry-planting advice?

We have a  single Pixwell bush that I've moved a couple times, trying to keep it in part shade but seems prone to mildew. Now it has to be moved because a nearby tree is shading it too much. Any advice on how you grow yours?  These are for eating, not show.

Basically the main essentials are moisture & pruning, don't ever let them go dry and prune them to a goblet shape and you should be OK

Oh my! It seems my poor gooseberry has been sorely mistreated all its miserable neglected life. I'll try to do better by it with all those growing facts. Thank you, Tee Gee. You are a wealth of info.
