In a seed buying frenzy I bought these from T&M.

Chenopodium foliosum Strawberry Sticks
Highly novel, easy to grow plant, ideal for the border or patio containers. Base branching with spiky foliage and stems which bear many edible, bright-red strawberry-like fruits through to early autumn.

Just wondering if anyone had any experience of them so I can figure out how much space to let them have and whether garden or lottie is best.

They sound interesting, they look more like raspberries than strawberries IMO.
Less risk from slugs, as they don't lay on the ground.  :)
I am wondering if they taste like strawberries.

I'm hoping so!  :) I'll just have to grow em and see!

The berries have no real flavour but are edible. The leaves can be cooked & eaten but only in small quantities as they contain saponins. The seeds can be soaked for 12 hours then thoroughly rinsed to wash off the saponins then added to flour.

I won't dedicate an entire quarter bed to production just yet but I'll definitley give em a go for the novelty.

DeeBee, I grew these and to be honest won't bother again. Baccy Man has hit it on the head when he says "The berries have no real flavour" they taste nothing like strawberry or raspberry, they taste like nothing much at all - they look pretty but thats about it. Sorry to be a wet blanket, but there are so many much nicer edibles to grow than this. Chickweed tastes better, really it does.
