but the frost must have got to them, in a friends garden, would they be worth salvaging just to make crumbles with???? cheers.

There are several old varieties which hold the fruit until May... we have one on our lottie, don't try to bring in more than you need as any frost damaged areas will go mouldy really quickly in the warm. Some people say "Bletting"... IE allowing a bit of rotting improves the flavours... Medlars are best done like that..
They should be fine for cooking...

If any are brown and rotten take them off and burn them, otherwise use them as normal.

I left the last dozen or so on the tree for the birds and when I pruned the tree last week lopped the lot off.  They have been put on the pile ready for a bonfire in the Spring.
