Guys,

I found this site on google, www.chili-seeds.com

I was very interested by their offer of 10 varieties of Hot Chillis  with 25 seeds each + bonus  for £18,  + some postage on top from States.

I looked at the US Garden watchdog on Daves Garden,  no mention.

Has any chili heads used this site.   - It worries me that the contact page is blank. Still this might be OK.

Regards

I haven't used the site but I can tell you it is based in South Africa & uses a secure payment system. It is a fairly new site so they may not of gotten round to filling in the contact details yet.
It appears to be connected to The Great Chilli Farm (which you will find a reference to in their history of the chilli pepper) whose site has been around a lot longer http://www.chillifarm.com/ they are also based in Cape Town  (It is actually the same person who commissioned both sites & pays the hosting costs) I suspect they are expanding & buying extra domain names in an attempt to get more business by having 2 sites selling the same thing which will in turn attract a larger customer base.

Both the sites were designed & put up by Doorway Internet Services who are a well known company based in Capetown, South Africa. They are hosted by NJ Tech Solutions Inc. the Canadian company who own the domain names.

The payment processing system is paygate which is a south african version of paypal it is just as secure as the paypal system I have used it on several occassions when I have been dealing with a company based in Johannesburg. Coincidentally that is why the shopping basket price is displayed in Rand.

As www.chili-seeds.com is such a new site there is very little feedback about it, all a google search turns up is one reference to the site in Italian from someone reccommending it on an Italian gardening forum, they are a regular poster so I would assume it is a genuine reccommendation rather than spam. Other than that there seems to be no other feedback about the site.
Searching for the parent site 'The Great Chilli Farm' on the other hand will turn up lots of good reviews from satisfied customers so I would say it is a safe site to order from or if you prefer order from the parent site either way you are dealing with the same people.

you will find more of this as the $ is worth so little there trying to bring in other currencies.

I went ahead and ordered my Hot Pack,   thats 10 x 25 min. seeds + bonus 25 of the hot japenese ones.    The offer sounds very good,  as you know that often you get 5 or so seeds for the chillies from other places.

I'll let us know how I get on.  - Its not for xmas - so I'm not too bothered when it gets here.

Baccy Man thanks for your research.      You are right www.chillifarm.com is the more parent site, and fills me with the "good feeling" about any purchases.  Oh how I would love to work there. - I'm happier now. Thanks.

For completeness, and for "credit where credit is due".  I received the packet of my chilli seeds on christmas eve. Which I expect is better than a lot of companies managed this busy time of year etc...

So I'm very happy with my order and this company! - an offshoot of www.chillifarm.com

nice i have book marked for next year :)

Thanks honey!

The good thing with 25 seeds is that, I don't feel bad trying one each now and house sitting one each.  Though I know in my mind "ITS TOO EARLY" - hee hee

We would not have the space to do many of them yet - properly observing the UK climate under glass etc....

But I just cannot wait. - you know what thats like - same also goes for some Market bought scotch bonnets that I saved 75 seeds from each of the six chillies.   That will test germination. etc...
