Has any one found a marker pen for plant labels that will sustain our weather patterns.  It seems whatever I use always disappears making identification of that rare success impossible ???

Susiebelle - I now use an idea suggested here - print the labels and laminate them.  They are so clear and wont rot or fade.  I use business card size laminate pouches to do the labels.  My neighbours are also using this method after getting fed up with faded indelible pen labels.

If you go to any garden centre, were they sel the plastic lables, they is usually a water based marker pen, i use that.

or if you pm your address ill send you a spare one i have, so you can test it.

I use the Staedtler permanent Lumocolor (meduim) pens (1.59p) from Staples, Osbournes etc, or a Sharpie from Asda (99p). On plastic milk carton cut into strips, they are readable for 2+ years.

Generally they need to be permenant, waterproof, and lightfast.

I always use the black Pental marker when using a marker but graphite lasts the longest so try a soft pencil!
