My friend said that the seed things on my Nasturtiums are edible, which I had heard of before. She said they are Capers. I looked it up in a book and it said they can be used as mock Capers. Well, anyone know how to use them, do you eat them raw, cook with them, grind them down or what?

I would ask again on the recipes board, if I were you.

Whenever I go on there I  never get a reply. It is not as well used as this board. Thanx tho.

Cacran, your not likely to find an answer in  Bargains Galore, either. I recently replied to your other request in the edible section, pointing you in the direction of a caper recipe thread in the recipes section. Sometimes it pays to do a search. Here it is again:

Good luck.

Hi Amazin, I got it, thanks.

GINGER

Not only are the seeds edible (great pickled and just like capers). but the leaves are great in salads as well as the flowers. The leaves are pepery and the flowers add that something special to the presentation of the salad. Try it

Glad to help, Cacran! Let us know how you get on.

Ginger, I never have any flowers left for decoration - I just eat them! They're as peppery as the leaves - and softer on the palate.

;D ;D ;D

Hi Ginger, sounds like my friend was almost right. I know I'm not in the right place but do you know how to pickle them? I would like to have a go.

I found this one, but have never tried it myself

I'm not sure what the problem is, but my message above had a link to a thread from the Recipes section which contained two recipes for pickling nasturtium seeds. If you'd like to have a go, why not read that first.

Thankyou for that, I will have a go.
