Horrible discovery

Morning,

I had the horrible discovery this morning of going to let my chickens out and one of them was dead, sat next to the main door of the chicken coop.  Her vent has been seeping puss so we have been washing her in a solution provided to us by the vet, and we have had her seperated from the others for a couple of days now.  the vent had crusted up so we used a cotton swap to help in washing the vent and remove the crust.  This all started when a coupld of the chickens feather pecked her and caused bleeding.

I don't think she had been eating properly, and was very weak when I put her away last night.  It's our first chicken that we have lost and we are deeply upset.

Are we allowed to bury the chicken in our garden, or is it best to take her to the vet for them to dispose of properly?

Sorry to hear of your loss. I can't answer your question  but i'm sure someone else will come along with the answer.

Sorry to hear of your upsetting time :'(
We have had several of our little family members go on, and we have always buried them in our own garden. I dig a hole at least two foot deep so other garden visitors can't get down there. I really can't see any "legal" problems.

I am so very upset to hear of your loss.   :'( :'(
Unfortunately, like the others, I have not got an answer for you but personally, I would take her to the vet.
Good luck!
