Allotments 4 All

I've just pulled up my tomatoe plants at my lottie due to the dreaded 'blight' (i'm so upset, no lovely passatta this year).  But i suppose it was expected as everyone else has already suffered from it this year.

Anyway, i've pulled up the canes supporting them and weeded around the area.  Do i have to disinfect the canes and the hoe i used?  (I'm going to burn the tomato plants later).

How weird, I did the same job last night and was thinking exactly the same!

I suppose that canes should be disinfected as the spores of the blight may be in the cracks and crevices? It is recommended to wash pots and seed trays before new sowing to prevent any diseases so I suppose this must be the same.

The spores won't survive outside living tissue, so there's no need. The thing to worry about is blighty potatoes surviving to sprout again next year.
