Want to put a little shed on allotment, what is the best base needed, if any.....

A lot of people use concrete, but I'd tend to use breezeblocks, possibly set in concrete, or at least put on top of slabs, with wooden joists on top of those, and the shed built on top. That would raise it above flood level, and deny rats a hiding place. The big problem with using earth as a base is that you create a rat paradise underneath, and you can never get rid of the things for long.

I put mine on a pallet base.  I put some poly sheeting down first, hopefully to slow down the rate at which the pallets rot.

Year 2, so far so good.  Did get a bit carried away with the pallets and now have a pallet patio ;D

hammer in 4 posts beside each of the 4 corners of the shed so you can secure it from high winds.
