My chilli plants are getting larger and some are actually starting to produce flower buds now. I think these are either Prairie Fire or the Thai Hot variety. However, I have also noticed that the joints between the main stem and smaller stems are black... not sure if this is a disease, or..??? Any ideas? This is my first year growing chillis from seed. Would appreciate some pointers. I have been feeding with worm pee, is this bad?

Black bits you describe are normal.

What is "worm pee"?  I've never heard of it.
"Given that these are probably the most powerful secateurs in the world, and could snip your growing tip clean off, tell me, plant, do you feel lucky?"

Heldi

I say normal too. My Firecracker chilli plant is four years old,it looks like a mini tree as it has become very dark and woody.

I'm interested in the worm pee too!

Before VW replies I am going to hazzard a guess and say that they have a wormery.

If you are not aware of how these work then you put your waste in the wormery, the worms basically eat the waste down which produces both compost and a liquid which you can feed your plants.

This is what they mean by worm pee (I think/hope) :P
