I seem to have struck a problem ... so am posting this everywhere !!  ;D

Last year I was lucky enough to swap some broad beans ... they were purple beans !!  :D

I have grown them on this year and have achieved a great little harvest ... there is just one itsey bitsey little snag ... the taste  :o

Eaten raw, even if they are small even tiny ... they are tough. If you boil them they go floury ... microwaves just split the skins Are they meant to be kept, dried, and then used in casseroles ???  ???

Does anyone else grow these little chaps? I don't like to be beaten ... could always sow some of them again and try as a late crop ??? These ones I grew through the winter ...

... so what do you think ????  :-\

Is this the type?

Purple seeded Broad
Bean, The variety we stock is of
Italian origin "Fava extra precoce a GRANO VIOLETTE". Some of our
clients have pointed out that the purple colouration did not become
apparent until the seeds was quite mature, but, at the same time
commented very favourably about the flavour, and size of crop they
had.”

When God blesses you with a multitude of seeds double  the blessing by sharing your  seeds with other folks.

We had red epicure last year (can't remember who I bought them from, probably T&M, Suttons or Fothergills).  We didn't like them, really, so didn't look for them again this year.
