Obbelix, sounds like you have the same camera as me: the Panasonic Lumix FZ30.  Still doing only basic things with it - there's so much to learn to use!  And yes, it's too big for my handbag too ;D.

Hi Jill - I have barely used th efeatures on mine but promise myself I will read the manual and play with it on holiday.  Too busy otherwise.

MattyJC - I see you like steam power.  Cracking photos.  When is the Dorset fair?  I like your shots of Abingdon Weir too.

I've used Minolta and Canon film camera's for years. 3 years ago I bought a Sony Cyber P5. Great little camera. This year I went looking for a digital SLR. Checked out the Canon 350 and the newer 400. Both looked good and in fact my son has the 350 and is very happy with it. How-ever, my lenses, Minolta, Sigma and Tamron (18-70; 300-400; macro, wide angle; 70-210 etc) which fitted my Minolta 35mm will not fit a Canon. They do fit on the new Sony Alpha 100.
Sony took over Minolta last year and decided to keep the lens fitting as per Minolta. Result is I have a superb digiSLR for a bit less than the Canon and all my lenses fit, saving me a fortune. I would put the Sony Alpha an a par, if not better than the latest Canon's which are not as comfortable to hols an the Sony.
Pic quality is superb.

Thanks Kenkew.  Taht sounds good to me.  I've found some online but there's a big difference in price between UK and Belgium so I'll have to wait a while till I'm over in the UK again.
