A recently planted clematis has decided it does'nt like me anymore and the whole thing has gone all droopy.
I planted it quite deeply and was putting on a good spurt of growth when 2 days ago it went limp. Is this terminal?

Mine's done the same or a similar thing. It grew well last year (which is when I planted it) and has started growing again this year but quite a few places it's wilted and now dead. I was thinking it might be slug damage because I haven't put out any slug pellets.

Palustris

One way to tell, is if the 'wilting' started at the top of the plant and worked its way down, then it is likely to be wilt. If the plant wilted from the base upwards then suspect snails or even drought.
Gardening is the great leveller.
