Hi I have an Anthurium which I have had for about 8 months - it recently has started to look sorry for itself and its leaves have started dying off one by one - i have tried not to overwater it as my mums plant died from this.

It had been doing really well (although no flowers) but in the past month all of a sudden its taken a bad turn even though i haven't changed the way I am looking after it....  I repotted it (roots everywhere) and now suddenly all the leaves have turned yellow! Help!

Also my stromanthe triostar has holes in its leaves - the new leaves don't have holes only the larger, older leaves.  I have repotted it in the hope this will help?  any ideas? (no sign of pests on it)

Hi Haggismonster! The only thing I can think of re the anthurium is overwatering. I'm no expert but I have one 5 months old and it's looking lovely with three flowers fully out and another two buds just about to open. (There's a pic of it, taken a couple of weeks ago, in the Gallery - under 'Snap Happy' if you want a look.) It looks very pot-bound but as it seems happy - (and I'm too scared to split it! :-[) - I'll leave it for a while!  It's on a west facing windowsill - (and immediately above a radiator so it's survived having a boiled bum on and off through the winter! ::)) I've never actually watered it - the pot stands in a saucer of pea-shingle and I just top up the saucer with water every day. I do put a couple of drops of Babybio in the water once in a while. I hope it bucks up for you, they are such beautiful things.  :) Sorry - I've never even heard of a stromanthe! Good luck with both of them!

Hmmm maybe I have just overwatered it without realising it - I watered it a bit when I repotted it but now all leaves are yellow - maybe I'll just have to buy a new one!

The other plant is also called a Peacock Plant - seems quite happy apart from the holes!
