I'd give em time Rosy. Pigeons attacked 2 plots last year they looked kerput. They both left them and they grew ok. Guy said so long as they had'nt got the base of the stem.

they did it overnight and left the stem,...now you know about the early bird getting the worm or what else is on offer.

This is a problem with planting out 'early' i.e. when there is very little fresh greens about the birds go for what is available and if that is young brassicas or legumes then why not?

Thats another reason I plan my sowing/planting dates as I do. By the time I get around to it there is plenty of other produce on offer and the breeding season is nearly over.

Plus from experience I never put anything out unless it is 'netted or fleeced'

This keeps birds, cats, dogs and kids off as a rule!!

I think the birds just love it when the new gardening season starts :o ::)
