Hi all, wondering if anyone can help ...

I need to plot some routes around my local area of various lengths, 10 miles, 12 miles, 15 miles, etc, etc.  Anyone know a piece of software or a website i could use to do this?

Ideally i'd like to be able to look at a map & click the points I want to use & it will work out the distance for me, iykwim.  The aa/rac route finder thingies won't be any use, as we want to plot circular routes, and not just from point a to point b.

Thanks in advance x

google earth does that, I have checked footpath routes many times.

It is quite a large download, but is amazing in its facility.

Good luck

i've just found mapmyrun.com which enables you to plot a route on a map and it calculates the distance in either miles or km's for you.  Having entered today's route, i find it was only 9.68 miles when we thought it was 10 - i feel duped! :-X Oh well, there's always next sunday... ::)

Thanks for your help x

I second the gmaps link, I use it to plan all my cycle trips around the coast as I have distance limits I know are within my abilities. :) It utilises Google maps but is a separate utility. Don't forget too that you can save a route as a URL and start again - so you never lose a route and can go back to it.
